Make poverty history: Has the anti-poverty movement lost its radical vision?

In 2005 ‘Make Poverty History’ was the rallying cry of a mass movement with big ambitions. Today we’re asked to make do with a ringfenced aid budget routinely plundered to top up spending on the military. Meanwhile, trade expansion threatens to usher in a new era of toxic debt in the developing world, as climate bribes pave the way for unfettered global consumption. If we’re to turn the tide, what’s our vision for the global economy?
